In 2004, the Advisory Board renamed the MacArthur Communicative Development Inventories to MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventories in honor and remembrance of Elizabeth Bates who passed away in December 2003.
The work by Dr. Bates and her colleagues in the 1970s and 1980s provided the groundwork for the CDIs and she became a central contributor to the inception and subsequent expansion of the instruments in the 1990s and beyond. Her energy, enthusiasm, and remarkable insight inspired and guided her MacArthur colleagues in the development and expansion of the inventories and supporting tools.
The Advisory Board is saddened to announce the death of our longtime colleague and friend, J. Steven Reznick. Steve was a gifted and generous teacher, researcher, mentor, collaborator and friend. Learn more about Steve's life here.
We are saddened to announce the untimely passing of our longtime friend and colleague, Donna Jackson-Maldonado. Donna joined the CDI Advisory Board in the early 1990s to develop and norm the Mexican Spanish forms of the CDIs. Donna’s experience with children learning Spanish as well those learning Spanish and English simultaneously was fundamental to the work of the Advisory Board. We will greatly miss her infectious good spirit, passion, and laughter that made collaboration with her such a pleasure.
